We learned about Jamestown and how people in the early 1600's
used oiled paper for their windows. We did an experiment and tried oiling
white paper to see what happens. It was pretty interesting...
...the oiled paper allows much light through and repels moisture!
On the bottom photo, the left is actually the part that was oiled. This was held up to the window and you can see how bright the sun shines through.

I know your boys loved this! So, is this the new pad or just about your HS journey?
You get a big hug from me for reading that post. I'm glad we have some more things in common. Makes you wish we lived a little closer doesn't it!
I love seeing how you are giving your boys a love for learning.
How exciting a new blog! And I love your shorter hair (at least it is shorter than other pics I have seen)
I will have to try this with my boys- we have read about those windows too.
Oh, how much fun!! I really need to get more hands on-ish. I hope all is well friend.
JOYfully in Him,
Kelli
I just really felt like it's taken me this year to decide what direction I was going with, with my blog. I've wanted to do a separate one for just a diary for our homeschooling, so I finally did it.
I believe byhisgoodgrace will become my blog for my art and things I have learned in my Christian walk. LearningByHisGoodGrace will just be for homeschooling ideas. Know what I mean?
Oh and yes, I just chopped my hair off. Wanted something--different.
Thanks.
And, yes, there are many blog friends that I wish could be neighbors!
